The World Cup in Germany is expected to generate $6 billion to $8 billion in revenue related to passing mobile content to people on cell phones and a myriad of other devices. T-Mobile is a big sponsor (its parent is Deutsche Telekom) and word is an announcement is due soon from them related to World Cup content.

No doubt it’s going to involve video streaming, along with highlight clips and games, etc. No word on cost (it almost certainly won’t be free) but Sprint users and maybe Verizon Wireless users could be in line for some deals and packages.

ABC and its ESPN networks promised FIFA it had the means and technological know-how to dsitribute clips and content when it bid for the English-language right to the 2006 tournament.
