ABC returns Rob Stone and his amateur commentary to ruin your World Cup viewing

You'd be better off turning the sound off when he's calling the games. He'll shout "PK" whenever anyone goes down in the box. He'll get over-excited at the wrong moments. He'll screw up names of foreign players. He'll make you uneasy as a fan of the game. I'll take Harkes-y and Wynalda any day over that clown.

Below is a list of broadcast pairings and their broadcast locations during the World Cup:

ESPN/ABC ANNOUNCE FIFA WORLD CUP BROADCAST TEAMS:

BROADCAST TEAMS
Play-by-play, Analyst - Location

Dave O’Brien, Marcelo Balboa - Germany
JP Dellacamera, John Harkes - Germany
Rob Stone, Robin Fraser - Germany
Glenn Davis, Shep Messing - ESPN HQ
Adrian Healey, Tommy Smyth - ESPN HQ

In addition to the five teams above, Eric Wynalda, Alexi Lalas and Julie Foudy will serve as studio analysts from the United States. ESPN/ABC Sports have announced their broadcasters for the network’s coverage of the 2006 FIFA World Cup beginning June 9 in Germany.

Here's hoping ESPN puts EW and Lalas in the same studio. The lack of love would be fun to watch, no?
