Now that the US's World Cup is over, Bruce can really say what he thinks of the MLS

Get yourselves to club-level football in Europe, dudes. It can be made any clearer.....

This American team was evenly split between European and M.L.S. players. Arena said that more Americans needed to play professionally in Europe, where the soccer environment is more passionate, with greater pressure, and the competition is more intense.

Claudio Reyna, the United States captain who is retiring from the national team to focus on his club team commitments with Manchester City in the English Premier League, said he agreed with Arena that more players should go overseas.

"Because of the intensity of the leagues, and the pressure from the press and the fans, you're under that situation all the time," Reyna said. "That could be that little difference to make teams progress into the next rounds."

Donovan, the American playmaker who underachieved in this World Cup, should consider a return to Europe to sharpen his game, Arena said. Donovan had a disappointing career in the German Bundesliga before he decided to return home to play in M.L.S.
